Men's Soccer Rallies to Defeat Nichols
Leopards erase an early, 1-0 deficit and pick up a 3-1 road win; Alex Burnham scores a goal and adds an assist

DUDLEY, Mass. – Three different student-athletes scored goals, including Alex Burnham who also had an assist, as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team rallied from an early deficit to defeat Nichols, 3-1, in Conference of New England play on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Leopards improve to 5-3-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play while the Bison slip to 3-6-0 (0-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nichols spent early time in the attacking zone, having a shot attempt blocked just 68 seconds into the contest. On the Bison's second shot attempt of the game, the hosts took a 1-0 lead when Mick Tarozzi sent a pass to Lucas Salvador, coming at the 2:20 mark.
- The teams traded shots on net in the 16th minute of action and in the 21st minute, Adam Robertson put a shot on target that was saved by Fra Barreto Santana. Younes Henniche and Michael Liquori followed up each with a pair of shots before Nichols placed two shots on net, both of which were saved by Mason Brooks.
- At the 40:43 mark, Wentworth got the equalizer as a foul in the box led to a penalty kick. Burnham stepped to the spot and tucked a shot inside the post for his first career marker.
- Nichols had a flurry of shot attempts early in the second half, with Brooks coming up with four saves in a span of three and a half minutes. During that span, Younes Henniche had a shot attempt for the Black & Gold that was saved by Barreto Santana.
- Liquori put the Leopards on top, 2-1, when he put home his own rebound at the 65:10 mark and Adamo Tsakiris nearly made it 3-1 with a shot on goal just over two minutes later.
- Burnham factored into Wentworth's third goal of the game when he sent a pass to Henniche who finished it for his second goal of the game.
- Brooks notched his first collegiate win with an eight save performance. Barreto Santana made 11 stops in the loss for Nichols. Wentworth had advantages in shots (21-15) and corner kicks (4-1).
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today marked the 40th all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth has a 24-15-1 series advantage.
