Dentrone, Men's Soccer Double Up on Framingham State
Leopards outlast Rams, 4-2, as Vinny Dentrone leads the way with a goal and an assist

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Vinny Dentrone of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team (6-3-2) tallied a goal and an assist as the Leopards fended off the Framingham State Rams (0-7-2) by a 4-2 score in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Two shots within five seconds of one another by the Rams was answered with a tally by Dentrone the other way as the rookie scored on a free kick from the top of the box at the 3:48 mark.
- The Leopards nearly doubled the lead at the 27:24 mark as a shot by Alex Burnham nicked the crossbar. The two teams traded shots the rest of the half, with Framingham State leading with seven shots while Wentworth held the edge in corner kicks with two.
- The Rams tied things up at one at the 58:03 mark as Michael Jokic capitalized on a rebound off of Noah Lawless. However, the Leopards regained their one-goal lead just 4:01 later as Carlos Jimenez found the uprights of the goal on a free kick, marking a 2-1 score in the 63rd minute.
- The Black & Gold added to their lead at the 72:37 mark as a cross by Dentrone found the head of Kingston McGee, who headed in his first collegiate goal to give the Leopards a 3-1 lead.
- Framingham State cut the deficit to just one at the 85:01 mark as Gustav Hemmingsen tapped home a high pass to raise the score to 3-2. However, Burnham found a streaking Sam Wong with just 40 seconds left with Wong putting home his breakaway try to mark a 4-2 score.
- Wentworth owned the advantages in shots on goal (11-10) and corner kicks (6-2) while Lawless backstopped the victory with eight saves.
SERIES NOTES:
- Wentworth has won nine of the 11 all-time meetings between the two teams.
