BEVERLY, Mass. – A pair of first-half goals lifted the Endicott College (6-4-1, 3-0 Conference of New England) men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology (6-4-2, 2-1) in CNE action Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Endicott wasted little time applying pressure in the Wentworth zone as Noah Lawless came up with a save 36 seconds into the contest.
- At the 2:02 mark, the Gulls had a corner kick, and, five seconds later, made the most of it as Aidan Sheehan served the ball to Carter McCoy, whose header put the hosts ahead, 1-0.
- Endicott took a 2-0 lead at the 13:26 mark when Max Karkos sent a cross toward the net and Conor Rooney tapped it home.
- After Lawless made a save in the 51st minute, a header by Michael Liquori went wide. Wentworth had its first corner kick attempt in the 69th minute which resulted in a shot on net by Carlos Jimenez that was saved.
- In the 76th minute, Christopher Jimenez had a chance to put the Black & Gold on the board, however, his shot was saved.
- Lawless came up with five saves. Endicott had a 20-6 shot advantage and a 3-1 edge on corner kicks.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
- Today marked the 30th all-time meeting between the two teams.
