Roger Williams Halts Men's Tennis' Win Streak

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team saw ts three-match win streak come to an end as the Leopards (5-10, 1-3 Commonwealth Coast Conference) were defeated by Roger wIlliams, 9-0, in CCC play Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The No. 2 doubles tandem of freshman Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) and Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) gave Roger Williams a 1-0 lead as they defeated senior Kevin Shields (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.), 8-0. Senior Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) and sophomore Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) were 8-3 winners over freshman Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and freshman Thomas Kot (Farmington, Conn.) at No. 2. Senior Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and freshman Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.) gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead with an 8-3 win over junior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and freshman Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.).
  • Carroll bested Marwaha, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles before Schuck was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over freshman James Weete (Dover, N.H.) at No. 5 to clinch the match.
  • Glassman was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over senior Aidan Gordon (Douglas, Mass.) at No. 6, Trevethan defeated Gallegos at No. 1, 6-1, 6-2, sophomore Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) was a 7-5, 6-0 winner over Doraci at No. 4, and Collins took a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Rodriguez at No. 3.
