Men's Tennis Falls to Gordon

MILTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team dropped its regular-season home finale on Wednesday afternoon, falling 9-0 to Gordon in Commonwealth Coast Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • No. 2 doubles saw Gordon's tandem of sophomore Carleton Riester (Lynnfield, Mass.) and freshman Jeffrey Bodner (Moncton, N.B.) topped Wentworth senior Kevin Shields (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.). At No. 1, junior Ezekial Hall (Sugarland, Texas) and sophomore Joshua Noel (Ennis, Texas) were 8-2 winners over junior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and freshman Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.). The Fighting Scots completed the doubles sweep as freshman James Wellborn (Abilene, Texas) and sophomore Lucas Barnes (Newport, R.I.) were 8-4 winners over freshmen Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and Thomas Kot (Farmington, Conn.).
  • Barnes defeated freshman James Weete (Dover, N.H.), 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5 singles before Hall clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gallegos at No. 1.
  • Reister was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Doraci at No. 4, Bodner defeated Marwaha, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2, Wellborn defeated senior Aidan Gordon (Cataumet, Mass.), 6-3, 6-2, and Noel defeated Rodriguez, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4).
