Men's Tennis Sees Season Come to an End

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team saw its season come to close on Saturday afternoon as the fifth-seeded Leopards were defeated by fourth-seeded Endicott, 5-0, in an opening round match of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Endicott sophomore Oliver Pope (Dartmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Hudson De Risi (Cold Harbor Spring, N.Y.) gave the hosts a 1-0 with an 8-3 win over freshman Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) and freshman Thomas Koy (Farmington, Conn.) at No. 3 doubles. The Gulls upped their lead to 2-0 when senior Brennan Nick (Tolland, Conn.) and freshman Conrad Kadel (Heidelberg, Germany) defeated junior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) and freshman Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.), 8-3. The Gulls completed the doubles sweep as freshman Antonio Marsallo (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and junior Julian Richarich (Naples, Fla.) were 8-2 winners over senior Kevin Shields (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.).
  • Kadel gave the Gulls a 4-0 lead when he defeated Doraci at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0, before De Risi was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over freshman James Weete (Dover, N.H.) to clinch the match.
  • Marwaha was ahead, 5-4, in the first set of his No. 2 match when the outcome was decided.
