Men's Tennis Rolls Past Rhode Island College
Leopards take northern spring opener by an 8-1 score, winning the first eight points of the match

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Niko Rosich (Chicago, Ill.) picked up his first two collegiate victories while senior Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) – who also won two matches – clinched the win with a win at No. 1 singles as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team defeated Rhode Island College, 8-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rosich and junior Pranav Marwaha (Nashua, N.H.) jump started Wentworth's doubles sweep as the teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 3. Gallegos and sophomore Rene Rodriguez (Doral, Fla.) gave the Leopards a 2-0 lead with an 8-4 win at No. 1. Freshman Manas Arya (Hessen, Germany) and sophomore Eric Doraci (Natick, Mass.) completed the sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 2.
- Carrying the momentum from doubles to singles, Rosich put the Black & Gold within a point of clinching with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6, before Gallegos was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 1, giving Wentworth the win.
- Doraci won at No. 5, 6-3, 6-2, Rodriguez was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 2, and Arya picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 4.
- Rhode Island College's lone point of the match came at No. 3. Marwaha dropped the first set, 3-6, before bouncing back to pick up a 6-4 win in the second set. However, in the tiebreaker, he fell, 5-10.
