Outdoor Track Continues its Strong Season
Leopards set seven program records and post four first-place finishes at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational
WENHAM, Mass. – Seven program records fell and four student-athletes finished first as the Wentworth Institute of Technology outdoor track team competed at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational, held at Gordon College.
On the women's side, senior Colleen Sullivan (Bridgewater, Mass.) set records in the 200M (28.52) and 400M (1:04.29), freshman Annie King (Wakefield, Mass.) set a new mark in the 5000M (21:14.19), and freshman Laci Santos (Medway, Mass.) set records in the 100M hurdles (17.08), the long jump (4.44M), and the discus (24.42M). Meanwhile the 4X100M relay of junior Dionna Ang (Victoria, Australia), Sullivan, junior Eleni Christopoulos (Knoxville, Tenn.), and sophomore Erin MacLean (Newton, Mass.) etched their names in the record book with a time of 56.33 seconds.
On the men's side, senior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) was a double winner, taking home first in both the shot put (15.64M) and discus (47.41M). Both of those marks are new program records. Freshman Fabrice Fouron (Easton, Mass.) had a record-setting jump of 6.26M in the long jump, while junior Eli Sleasman (Albany, N.Y.) finished first in the pole vault. Senior Ed Ardolino (Saugus, Mass.) was first in the javelin with a throw of 47.43M.
