Santos Places Second in the Heptathlon at the Slifen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Freshman (Laci Santos (Medway, Mass.) finished second in the Heptathlon, setting program records in four of the events as the Wentworth Institute of Technology outdoor track team competed at the Slifen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College.

Santos accounted for eight of the women's side's nine points, while the men finished eight with 45 points. Also scoring for the women was the 4X100M Relay squad of junior Dionne Ang (Victoria, Australia), junior Eleni Christopoulos (Knoxville, Tenn.), sophomore Erin MacLean (Newton, Mass.), and senior Colleen Sullivan (Bridgewater, Mass.), who finished eighth with a time of 4:41.38.

The men were helped by a first-place finish in the pole vault as junior Eli Sleasman (Albany, N.Y.) set a program record with a vault of 4.70M and a first-place finish in the discus with senior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) having a winning throw of 46.51M. Pierce also picked up third in the shot put (15.03M), while freshman Fabrice Fouron's (Easton, Mass.) program triple jump record of 13.56M placed him third.
