Fifth Place Finish for Men's Indoor Track & Field at the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational
Fabrice Fouron (triple jump; program record) and Ryan Ballard (mile) notch first place finishes for the Leopards
WALTHAM, Mass. – Fabrice Fouron and Ryan Ballard each notched first-place finishes to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's indoor track & field team place fifth at the Reggie Poyau Memorial Invitational at Brandies University.
The Leopards' fifth place finish came by way of 71.5 points, with Fouron and Ballard combining for 30 of those points. Ballard won the mile (10 points) with a time of 4:27.55 and had a third place (six points) finish in the 1000M (2:45.45). Fouron set a program record with his first-place finish (10 points) in the triple jump (14.21M). This jump has him presently 10th in the NCAA Division III rankings. He also placed fifth (four points) in the triple jump with a top jump of 6.06M.
In the 60M hurdles, Oliver Bishop picked up five points (fourth place) with a time of 8.76. In addition to Ballard's third place finish in the 1000M, Mark Murphy finished right behind him with a time of 2:45.93 to earn five points with his fourth-place finish. Ezra Blasko was fifth in the 3000M, picking up four points with a time of 8:58.66.
The Leopards had three student-athletes score in the high jump, with Dominic Simpri clearing 1.80M to place seventh (1.80M), while Bishop and Owen Moriarty were in a four-way tie for eighth (1.75M), with each earning 0.25 points. The pole vault saw Nate Muller place third and earn six points with a mark of 4.45M, while Moriarty was sixth (4.00M), giving the Back & Gold three points. With's Muller's 4.45M mark, he presently sits 32nd on the NCAA Division III ranking list. Julian Sacca placed seventh (12.77M) in the weight throw to give Wentworth two points. Sacca picked up five more points when he finished fifth in the shot put (13.50M), while Joe Packowski was seventh (two points) in the shot put (12.62M)
Both relay squads earned points for Wentworth. In the 4X400M relay, Charles Cevasco, Blasko, Adi Aditya, and Bishop were fifth (five points) with a time of 3:45.09, while Ian Sasse, Ryan Abbotoni, Murphy, and Scott Stehlik were 10th in the 4X200M relay with a time of 1:38.28.
Gabriel Silva also set a program record for Wentworth with a time of 39.15 in the 300M.
