CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The nationally-ranked No. 6 MIT men's volleyball team swept Wentworth Institute of Technology, 30-20, 30-25, 30-20, in a North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division tilt on Saturday. The Engineers, who will be making their sixth consecutive trip to the NECVA Championship Tournament, improved to 29-7 overall and 14-2 in league action. The Leopards' ledger dipped to 16-10 on the year and 10-6 in conference play.

 

Matt Hohenberger had a solid outing for the Cardinal and Gray as he racked up 10 kills, a .615 hitting percentage, four aces, and three blocks. Alex Becherer connected on nine of his 11 hitting attempts while collecting four digs. David Thomas posted eight kills and two aces as Mike Demyttenaere notched seven kills and a block. Patrick Vatterott chipped in six kills and four digs while Eric Reuland paced the defense with nine digs. Tim Lee tallied 32 assists, seven digs, and two blocks as Caine Jette dished out 10 assists.

 

Derek Portugal led the way for Wentworth as he totaled nine kills and five digs. Lowell Jesmer contributed six kills and four blocks as Tom Ceurvels totaled four kills and four digs. Tyler Moriarty distributed 18 assists for the visitors.
