NASHUA, N.H. – Playing in its first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference match, the Wentworth men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to seventh-ranked Rivier. With the win the Raiders improve to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play while the Leopards saw their three-match win streak snapped, falling to 3-2 (0-1).

Rivier took the first game by a 25-17 score, thanks in part to 11 kills and a pair of service aces, while forcing the Leopards to commit six attack errors. The hosts held the Black & Gold to a .033 attack percentage in the second set, en route to a 25-21 win before closing out the match with a 25-17 win in the third game.

The Raiders were led by sophomore Terence Matatall (Danville, N.H.) who recorded seven kills on the evening. Junior Steve Visentin (Cheshire, Conn.) now holds a three game streak with 20-plus assists with 28 and also tied for the team high in digs along with senior Chris Convertito (Trumbull, Conn.) with eight.

Wentworth was led by sophomore Ross Burdett (Needham, Mass.) who had his fifth straight 10-plus kill match, recording 11 as well as serving a pair of aces. Junior Tyler Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.) became the second player in program history to eclipse the 2,000-assist mark as his 20 assists give him 2,006 in two-plus seasons. Moriarty also had 12 digs, while freshman Rami Akouri (Fall River, Mass.) had six kills and 11 digs.

Rivier travels to Emerson on Thursday, while Wentworth plays two matches at home next week, beginning with Tuesday's match against 13th-ranked Emmanuel at 7:00 p.m.
