Moriarty Named GNAC Defensive Player of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Tyler Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team has earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played from March 11-17.

Moriarty helped the Leopards to a second-place finish at the Johnson & Wales Invitational as he averaged 10.93 assists, 0.36 aces, and 1.93 digs per game, en route to being named to the all-tournament team. He had 41 assists, two aces, and 10 digs in a 3-0 win over Johnson & Wales in a GNAC match, 50 assists and eight digs in a 3-2 loss to New Jersey City, 29 assists and three aces in a 3-0 win over York, and 22 assists and four blocks in a 3-0 win over Daniel Webster. He also eclipsed the 3,000 career assist mark in the win over York.

Having played in 17 of 18 of the 12-6 Leopards' games, Moriarty is averaging 9.71 assists per game, 0.44 aces per game, and 1.95 digs per game. The program's all-time assist leader, he has 3,050 assists and ranks among Wentworth's career leaders in service aces and digs.
