GNAC Names Klembczyk as Defensive Player of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. –  For the second time this season, sophomore Peter Klembczyk (Penfield, N.Y.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon by the league office.

Klembczyk backstopped the Leopards to a 3-1 week, with all three wins coming against league opponents, as the sophomore averaged 4.40 digs per set for 66 total. He registered at least 10 digs in three of four matches played, and steered the Leopards to a four-set win over Emmanuel with 31 digs, which shattered the single-match digs record at Wentworth set in 2012. He started the four-match week with a match-high 16 digs in a five-set setback to Cal Lutheran, and added 10 digs in Wentworth's key sweep over GNAC rival Lasell.

The Leopards, who rank at #8 in the first NCAA Division III Regional Poll, travel to nationally-ranked #14 Rivier tomorrow evening for a big GNAC matchup at 7:00 p.m. The Raiders remain undefeated against league opponents.
