Rodriguez-Guerrios Reaches 1,500 Career Assists in Setback To Ranked Raiders

NASHUA, N.H. – Ranked at No. 13 in the latest AVCA Division III Men's Volleyball Poll, the Raiders of Rivier University remained undefeated in GNAC play with a 3-0 sweep (18-25, 18-25, 21-25) over Wentworth on Tuesday evening inside Muldoon Gymnasium.

At 17-10 overall and 10-3 against league opponents, the Leopards stay in second place among GNAC contenders, while Rivier sits atop all others at 20-7 and 11-0 in the conference.

Junior Augusto Rodriguez-Guerrios (San Juan, P.R.) dished out his 1,500th assist, and now ranks fourth all-time along Wentworth's career leaders. Rodriguez-Guerrios assisted on 20 of Wentworth's 29 kills.

The Raiders hit .320 overall, while the Leopards struggled offensively, hitting .171 with a total of 16 errors. Juniors Xhuljo Zyba (Holbrook, Mass.) and Ryan Love (Gaithersburg, Md.) were Wentworth's top hitters, both notching 11 kills, while Zyba hit a team-high .529.

Khaynen Yocca led the Raider attack with 10 kills on .471 hitting, and added seven assisted blocks for 13.5 points. Dashaun Graham was also effective in the Raiders' sweep, hitting .875 with seven kills and zero errors on eight swings. The Raiders held a slim 28-25 advantage on defense, led by Cam Roth's 11 digs.

Wentworth returns to Tansey Gym at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday for a GNAC match against Regis. Before first serve, the Leopards will honor its lone senior Brian Drouse for his dedication to the men's volleyball program.
