Marcy, N.Y. – The Wentworth men's volleyball team is headed back home to Boston with a 3-1 overall record after the SUNY Poly Wildcat Invitational hosted in Marcy, N.Y.
Wentworth highlighted the trip with a 3-1 victory over #7 Wells, and stunned the Express by set scores of 27-25, 24-26, 25-21, and 26-24. Wells, which moved up from #11 to #7 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll, was previously undefeated before the Leopard's triumph. The Leopards, who are also receiving votes (10) in the latest poll, went on to defeat Nazareth in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-20.
In the final day of the tournament, Wentworth made quick work of the host Wildcats 25-15, 25-23, and 25-11 with their second sweep of the year. The Leopards suffered their first loss in the final match to St. John Fisher, which also received 10 votes in the AVCA poll. The Cardinals bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Wentworth in five sets.
