AVCA Recognizes Four from Men's Volleyball with All-Region Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – On the heels of a successful regular season, three Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball student-athletes – senior libero Peter Klembczyk (Penfield, N.Y.), freshman setter Anthony Krzykowski (Feeding Hills, Mass.), and graduate student outside hitter Ryan Love (Gaithersburg, Md.) – have been named to the 2021 NVA/ACVA Division III All-Northeast Region Team. Their head coach, Evin Giglio, was also honored as he was named the AVCA's North Region Coach of the Year.

Klembczyk repeats as an all-region selection, having played in 34 sets and averaging 3.32 digs per set. He had a season-high 24 digs against Lasell on April 3 and matched a career high with six assists in a season-opening win over Lasell. He is presently third in the country in digs per set and on April 10, he became the program's all-time leader in digs. For his career, he has played in 86 matches (290 sets) and, in addition to his program-leading 825 digs, he is also atop the Leopard record book with 2.84 digs per set.

Krzykowski has had an impressive rookie season to date as, in 34 sets, he is averaging 10.76 assists per set, which is good for third nationally in Division III. He notched a career-high 59 assists against Lasell on April 3 and had 40 or more assists three other times, including in a 3-1 win over Springfield on April 10. He also had a career-best three aces against Lasell on April 7 and in that match tied a career high with four blocks while recording a career high 17 digs against Lasell on April 3.

Like Klembczyk, Love is a repeat all-region selection. In 34 sets, he averaged 3.76 kills and 1.85 digs per set while hitting .320. Currently his 3.76 kills per set rank him 14th in Division III. On the season he has recorded a pair of double-doubles, which included a career-high 16 digs against Lasell on April 3. He notched a season-high 20 kills in the Leopards' season-opening win over the Lasers and hit .400 or better on four occasions, including .579 (12-1-19) against Lasell on March 27. In 89 career matches (267 sets), he ranks sixth all-time in program history with 2.93 kills per set, seventh in attack percentage (.280), and eighth in kills (781).

In his 10th season, Giglio has brought the men's volleyball program to national prominence during his time at Wentworth, winning a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships and appearing in a pair of NCAA Tournaments and advancing to the national semifinals in 2017. His teams have won 20 or more matches on six occasions, including posting a program-best 28-7 record in 2017. The two-time (2014, 2017) GNAC Coach of the Year has amassed a 194-89 (.686) record. Additionally, Giglio spent eight seasons guiding the Leopard women's volleyball program where he had a record of 143-82 (.636) and captured the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship in 2018.

Ranked 11th in the most recent AVCA Division III Men's Coaches Poll, Wentworth (7-2) earned its third NCAA Division III Tournament berth and will square off against New Jersey City University in a first-round match on Wednesday, April 21, at 5:00 p.m., in Salem, Va.
