BOSTON, Mass. – Behind a balanced attack, the fourteenth-ranked Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team (16-6) swept the Eastern Nazarene Lions (11-10) in dominant fashion on Tuesday night, extending their current win streak to twelve matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth wasn't challenged early, notching the first seven points on the board that included kills from senior Colin Stockton (Hummelstown, Pa.) and junior Jacob LaBouliere (Pipersville, Pa.). After a slight push back from the Lions, a kill by senior Hunter Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) continued Wentworth's lead to 11-5. Errors by Eastern Nazarene plagued their offense, guiding a kill by freshman Nicolai Bell (Moraga, Calif.) to mark a 16-6 score. A kill by Stockton continued the lead to 18-8 before two-straight kills from LaBouliere later marked a 23-8 advantage for the Leopards. A Stockton kill claimed the Leopards a 25-9 first set win.
  • After swapped points started the second set, a Bell kill gave the Black & Gold a quick lead. The Lions held a 4-3 advantage that was matched and later taken over by the Leopards with kills from Bell and LaBouliere, marking a 8-6 score. Kills by Oshman brought the Leopards' lead to 11-8 and later to 14-11. Wentworth worked the score to 19-16 before three kills from sophomore Sam Etter (Massillon, Ohio) and two kills from Bell helped the hosts earn a 25-19 set win and a 2-0 match lead.
  • A kill by sophomore Josh Milke (Eastampton, N.J.) was the first of two-straight for the Leopards to begin the third set. After errors piled up for the Lions to a 7-3 deficit, an Oshman kill extended the Leopards' lead to 8-3. Kills by Oshman, LaBouliere, and Bell brought the Leopards' advantage to 13-7 before a kill by LaBouliere later on marked a 15-8 score. A kill by Etter continued the lead to 19-11 before kills by Stockton and sophomore Dave Arellanes (North Aurora, Ill.) sandwiched a cluster of Lions' errors, earning the Leopards a 25-16 set win and a 3-0 match victory, good for their twelfth-straight.

SERIES NOTES:

  • The Leopards are undefeated against the Lions all-time, holding a 6-0 record that dates back to their first meeting in 2018.
