#9 Men's Volleyball Handles Emerson in GNAC Opener
Leopards sweep Lions; Brayden Green dishes out 29 assists while Eli Turner registers match-high 12 kills

BOSTON, Mass. – In their conference-opening contest, the No. 9-ranked Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team breezed past the Emerson Lions in straight sets Saturday morning.
The Leopards improve to 7-1 overall while the Lions fall to 0-4 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The two teams swapped scores to begin the first set with a finish by Eli Turner giving the Leopards an 8-7 edge. A kill by Jeremy Macek helped push the lead to 11-9 before Emerson later closed the gap to just one at 15-14, 17-16, and 18-17 scores. A slew of errors capped with another finish for Turner propelled Wentworth to a 25-21 set win.
- After the Lions set out to a 5-2 lead in the second frame, finishes from Macek and Ian Babcock helped the Black & Gold back to a 7-6 edge in their favor. Another kill for Turner marked a 10-8 lead before Emerson battled back later in the set to take 15-13 and 16-14 leads. Another kill from Babcock finished a rally for the Leopards at 20-18 before another three kills from Babcock in the later going helped the Leopards earn a 25-21 set win.
- The two teams traded points to start the third set until kills from Babcock and Brayden Green helped Wentworth take a 10-8 lead. From there, a slew of errors for the Lions separated the Leopards at 18-13 before a kill by Turner extended the lead by one. The Black & Gold held their lead all the way to a 25-17 set win.
SERIES NOTES:
- The Leopards are 28-2 all-time against the Lions and haven't dropped a matchup between the two teams since 2012.
