#9 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Dominican (N.Y.)
Leopards sweep Chargers behind match-high 12 kills from Sam Etter; Ian Babcock chips in with 10 finishes, Temmy Argynbay notches 27 assists

BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 9-ranked Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team earned their ninth straight and 11th overall win of the season Friday afternoon in non-conference play, taking down NCAA Division II member Dominican (N.Y.) in straight sets.
The win improves the Black & Gold's overall record to 11-1. The Chargers fall to 1-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After the Chargers set out to a 3-1 lead in the opening set, a finish by Matthew Zegowitz capped a rally for the Leopards at 4-3 before a kill by Ian Babcock marked a 5-4 edge. The two teams traded scores, working to a 10-8 lead for Wentworth before kills by Tyler Jack and Sam Etter marked a 12-9 advantage. The Leopards ended the set with a 13-4 run, featuring three kills by Babcock and others by Jack and Zegowitz, to take a 25-13 frame.
- Wentworth raced out to a 4-1 advantage in the second set on a finish by Etter before kills by Jack and Babcock continued the lead to 8-6. Two strikes by Etter later continued the lead to 12-10 the two teams each rattled off respective 3-0 runs after a tie at 12-12 to mark a 15-15 score. A finish by Etter marked a 21-16 advantage for the Leopards before traded scores led to a 25-20 set win.
- The Chargers came out hot in the third set, opening with a 6-1 lead and carrying it to 7-2. Two kills by Jack helped Wentworth rally back to a 7-6 deficit before, after traded scores, the Leopards took a 10-9 edge. Kills by Babcock and Etter continued the lead to 14-10 before the Chargers later cut the deficit to just one at 17-16 and 18-17 scores. Two kills by Etter pulled Wentworth away at 20-17 before another two later on claimed the Leopards a 25-21 set win.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Following today's win, Head Coach Evin Giglio sits six wins shy of 300 in his career.
SERIES NOTES:
- The two teams met last season in exhibition play for the first time ever.
