Men's Cross Country Opens 2024 Campaign
Leopards place ninth at Wheaton Short Course Invitational; Ezra Blasko finishes 40th in his collegiate debut
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The 2024 edition of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team kicked off its season at the 10th Annual Wheaton College/Babson College Season Opener, held at Highland Park.
The Leopards placed ninth, with a team score of 230 in the 5K event.
Ezra Blasko kicked off his collegiate career being the first Wentworth runner to cross the line, finishing with a time of 16:57.49. This was good for 40th place (37 points). Joey Cotta recorded a 48th-place finish (43 points, after crossing the line with a time of 17:25.51. Rookie Teddy Doyle was 52nd (17:34.74, picking up 46 points, while classmate Nathan Bergqist-Guimond was 61st (50 points) after finishing with a time of 18:08.79. Mark Murphy completed the scoring runners for the Black & Gold as he crossed the line with a time of 18:27.59, good for a 66th-place finish (54 points).
Also competing for the Leopards were Evan McIntire (68th; 18:30.91), Jacob Thomas (69th; 18:35.40), Dylan Brilliant (18:54.58; 72nd), Sean Giuliano (19:11.14; 79th), Hayden Pierce (19:22.78; 83rd), and Robbie McCue (24:11.47; 95th).
Wentworth competes next at the Pop Crowell Invitational on the campus of Gordon College on Saturday, September 21.
