Blasko, Ballard Post Top 50 Finishes at NCAA East Regionals
Ezra Blasko and Ryan Ballard finished 31st and 42nd, respectively, to give the Leopards a 15th place finish at the season-ending event
HOPKINTON, N.H. – A 31st place finish from rookie Ezra Blasko helped the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team place 15th at the 2024 NCAA Division III East Regional Championships, held at the Hopkinton Fair Grounds.
The Leopards scored 426 points as a team, which included a pair of top 50 finishes in the 8K event. This marked the second-highest finish at a regional event by the Black & Gold, second only to the 2016 squad that finished 14th.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- For the fifth time this season, Blasko led the Leopards as his time of 25:53.88 picked up 31 points for the Black & Gold. He is expected to be named all-region when those awards are announced on Monday.
- Ryan Ballard also finished in the top 50, crossing the line in a time of 26:06.77, good for 42nd place (42 points).
- Joey Cotta was 103rd (103 points) with a time of 27:48.68.
- Jon Savage amassed 116 points with a 118th place finish (28:11.86)
- Teddy Doyle rounded out Wentworth's scoring runners, placing 131st (129 points) with a time of 28:52.29.
- Nathan Bergquist-Guimond (138th, 29:06.11) and Mark Murphy (144th, 29:32.26) also competed for the Leopards.
