Wentworth Downs Pine Manor, 66-20
Ashley Conway scores 16 points, Leopards hold Gators to 12.5 percent shooting
BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman guard Ashley Conway (Danvers, Mass.) netted a career-high 16 points and the Wentworth women's basketball team held Pine Manor to just 12.5 percent shooting from the floor as the Leopards snapped a four-game losing streak with a 66-20 win.
The Leopards led from start to finish and would hold the visiting
Gators off the scoreboard until 5:42 into the contest when a 5-0
lead was cut to 5-3. That would be as close as Pine Manor
would get and an 18-3 spurt over the final 10:00 of the half gave
Wentworth a 28-8 lead at the break. Pine Manor shot just 10
percent from the floor over the first 20:00.
Wentworth's defense forced 15 of the Gators' 27 turnovers in the
second half and would hold Pine Manor scoreless for the final 7:26
of the game, while extending a 29-point lead to the final margin of
46.
Freshman forward Meaghan
Murphy (Rutland, Mass.), senior forward Jessie
Coffey (Wakefield, R.I.), and senior guard Michelle
Fauci (Boxford, Mass.) each added 11 points for the
