Kerr Named TCCC Co-Rookie of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman guard/forward Kendra Kerr (Marshfield, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's basketball team was today named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 12.

In the Leopards' lone game last week, a 74-72 win at Thomas, Kerr made the most of her first collegiate start as she recorded career highs with 19 points and 11 rebounds and tied a career high with three steals.  Fifteen of her 19 points came in the second half as Wentworth rallied from a 17-point deficit at the break and nine of those 15 points came during an 11-1 run that gave the Leopards a lead late in the game.

Kerr has played in all eight of the Leopards' games and is averaging 9.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

Wentworth is off to a 5-3 start – its best start since beginning the 2007-08 campaign with a 7-2 record – and is idle until the Leopards travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a pair of games at the Daytona Beach Shootout against Saint Vincent and Catholic on Dec. 19 and 20, respectively.
