Kerr Named TCCC Rookie of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – For the second time this season, freshman forward Kendra Kerr (Marshfield, Mass.) of the Wentworth women's basketball team has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.  Kerr earns this honor after her play during the week of February 7-13.

Despite the Leopards posting an 0-2 week, Kerr once again put up solid numbers, averaging 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, while shooting 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from the free throw line.  In a 69-49 loss to Nichols, she scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had one assist, and one steal.  She followed that up with a 15-point, six-rebound, two-assist, one-steal performance in a 71-53 loss to Curry.  In that game she was 9-for-11 from the free throw line.

Kerr has started 16 of Wentworth's 23 games and leads the team in scoring with a 10.6 point per game average.  Her 6.4 rebounds per game rank her second on the team and she is also averaging 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Wentworth is presently 9-14 overall and 3-8 in TCCC play.  The Leopards conclude the 2010-11 season this week, beginning with a game against Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
