Vallone, Women's Hoopsters Earn TCCC Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - A total of 10 different institutions from The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the 2010-11 All-TCCC Women's Basketball Team and the list of major individual award winners, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.  For the third consecutive season Wentworth women's basketball player Kirsten Vallone (Avon, N.Y.) was named Third Team All-TCCC, while her team was honored with the conference's team sportsmanship award.

Vallone, who was an Honorable Mention All-TCCC selection as a sophomore and was named to the second team last season, averaged 10.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game in 13 TCCC games.  Overall she started all 25 games and averaged a double-double with 10.9 points and 10.9 rebounds per game to go along with 2.0 blocked shots, and 1.6 steals per contest.

In 96 games (91 starts), Vallone scored 1,100 career points (11.5 points per game) to go along with averaging 9.8 points, 1.5 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game.

Returning just three players from a team that went 12-14 in 2009-10, the Leopards finished the 2010-11 season with a 10-15 record.  Wentworth had a 4-9 TCCC record, which was two games out of the final playoff spot.  The 10 wins mark the second season in a row and seventh time in the last eight seasons the squad has reached double digits in victories.
