Kerr Named Second Team All-CCC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – All 10 institutions from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) were represented on the 2012-13 All-CCC Women's Basketball Team and the list of major individual award winners, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. In addition to the all-conference team, University of New England senior Beth Suggs was named CCC Player of the Year and Salve Regina University senior Kaitlyn Birrell was selected CCC Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Salve Regina freshman Meaghan Harden was named CCC Rookie of the Year, Roger Williams University's Elizabeth Kilzi was honored as CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, University of New England's Anthony Ewing was named CCC Coach of the Year and Gordon College received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Wentworth Institute of Technology junior forward Kendra Kerr (Marshfield, Mass.) earned a spot on the second team, marking the second straight season she has been honored by the conference.

Voting for the All-CCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among CCC women's basketball coaches.

Kerr, an Honorable Mention All-CCC selection a season ago, has started all 25 games for the Leopards, averaging 12.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. She recorded season-highs of 20 points against Eastern Nazarene on January 26, 17 rebounds against Eastern Nazarene on December 1, six assists against Simmons on December 3, and four steals in six different games. She has also recorded seven double-doubles and was the team's leading scorer in 10 games.

Having played in 75 of a possible 75 games during her career, Kerr has earned 68 starts and has a career scoring average of 12.0 points per game to go along with averaging 8.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

The Leopards sit at 11-14 overall and finished in a three-way tie for sixth place in CCC play with a 6-12 record. By virtue of conference tiebreakers, the Leopards are seeded eighth and travel to top-seeded University of New England tonight for their first CCC Tournament game since the 2009-10 season.
