INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Leopards overcame an eight-point deficit in the second quarter and responded with a 16-8 run to tie things up at halftime. Junior Kayla Kelley (Boston, Mass.) bucketed eight points in the stretch, including a last-second jumper to send both teams into the locker room at 31 apiece.
  • Both teams battled back and forth after the break, as the conference tilt experienced three lead changes and two ties over the first five minutes. Kelley sank a jumper to pull the Leopards within one with 2:24 to go in the quarter, before Curry scored the final two points and held a narrow 45-42 lead heading into the final ten minutes.
  • Curry outscored Wentworth 18-13 in fourth quarter action, and bucketed eight of its points from the free throw line. Kaitlyn Smith drained a three-pointer to open things up, but Leopards' leading scoring Erin Morton (Norway, Maine) answered with a trey of her own to shrink the gap down to three, 48-45. Gina Coote later extended the lead to six after a trey with 2:58 left in the contest, as Curry tacked on two more points from Smith at the line. Wentworth would score the next three points in the game to pull within four, 59-55, but foul trouble plagued the Leopards as Curry sank four from the line and gained an eight-point lead that stood until the final buzzer.
