Gordon Turns Away Women's Basketball
Scots handle Leopards, 79-46; Maddy Foster and Gabby Amoddio lead with 10 points apiece

WENHAM, Mass. – Five student-athletes for the Gordon Fighting Scots women's basketball team (5-18, 4-10 CCC) tallied points in double-figures as the Scots downed the Wentworth Institute of Technology (4-17, 0-14 CCC) by a 79-46 score in league play Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Wentworth held a 4-3 edge in the first quarter thanks to a basket by junior Gabby Amoddio (Wethersfield, Conn.), junior Isabella Rivera (Concord, N.H.) and junior Ami Rivera (Concord, N.H.) sank back-to-back to threes to give the hosts a 9-4 lead. After a layup by Isabella Rivera pushed the lead to 11-4, the two teams traded scores, with the Scots holding a 16-10 lead thanks to a make by senior Sydney Noyes (Newbury, Mass.). Two free throws from junior Maddy Foster (Lewiston, Maine) marked a 16-12 game after the opening frame.
- Back-to-back threes by the Rivera duo ignited an 18-4 run for the Scots, including two threes by sophomore Olivia Brown (Longmeadow, Mass.), to take a 34-16 lead before the Leopards cut the deficit by three on an Amoddio three-pointer. Gordon ended the quarter on a 7-4 run to hold a 41-23 lead at the halfway mark.
- Gordon outpaced Wentworth 24-11 in the third quarter, being led by multiple layup makes for senior Cheyann Tooman (Belgrade, Mont.). For the Leopards, freshman Adelyn Richardson (Gloucester, Mass.) sank a three and added another two to help mark a 65-34 score.
- The hosts opened the fourth quarter on a 9-1 run, taking a 74-35 lead, before the Leopards ended the contest on an 11-5 run that featured a three by Amoddio to mark a 79-46 final score. Brown led all scorers with 16 points, followed by Noyes with 15. For Wentworth, Amoddio (10 points) and Foster (10) led the offensive charge.
SERIES NOTES:
- Today marked the 49th all-time meeting between the two teams.
