HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first quarter featured a pair of ties early with a Jade Lewis jumper knotting the score at 4-all and starting an 8-0 run for Elms. Regan Madonia made a jumper and a three to pull Wentworth within one (10-9) and her three pointer with 2:48 gave the Leopards a 15-14 lead. The Black & Gold extended their lead to as many as seven (21-14) on a Taylor Garabedian layup with 29 seconds left and Kelly Lebel scored on the next possession to make it 21-16 after one quarter of play.
- Garabedian pushed the lead back to seven with a layup 13 seconds into the second quarter, however, an 8-0 run by Elms gave the Blazers a 24-23 lead on a layup from Talia Uribe. Back-t0-back layups from Tita Rana put the hosts back on top, 27-24, with 4:32 left. A layup from Lewis made it 28-27 with 2:21 remaining before Gabby Amoddio knocked down a jumper with 50 seconds left, putting Wentworth on top at the break, 29-28.
- A layup from Amoddio and a three from Madonia were sandwiched around a layup from Uribe and kept the Leopards on top, 34-31. However, an 11-0 run, capped off by an Uribe layup, put Elms ahead, 42-34 with 3:40 left in the third quarter. A Lebel layup with 33 seconds left put the Blazers on top, 50-40 after three.
- Elms opened the fourth quarter on a 14-4 run and took its largest lead of the night (20) on a pair of free throws from Rahmia Johnston. Samantha Jones and Brianna Carroll each knocked down threes to bring the Black & Gold back within 14 and, after the Blazers extended their lead to 17 late, Wentworth closed out the game on a 7-0 spurt, with Carroll scoring five of the seven points.
