Roger Williams Tops Women's Basketball
Hawks use a pair of runs in the middle two quarters to triumph over the Leopards; Maddy Foster scores 13 points, grabs eight rebounds.

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophia Coppola scored a game-high 14 points to help loft the Roger Williams University women's basketball team to a 57-27 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Conference of New England play Tuesday night.
With the win the Hawks improve to 12-6 overall and 9-2 in CNE play while the Leopards stand at 2-16 (0-11).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Roger Williams scored the first basket, Wentworth put up the next six points, taking a 6-2 lead with 4:55 left in the first quarter. Maddy Foster tied the game at 2-all and followed with a jumper 30 seconds later to give the hosts a 4-2 lead before Taylor Garabedian put the Leopards on top, 6-2. Roger Williams closed out the first quarter on a 9-2 run, with Elizabeth Dufrane hitting a jumper with 48 seconds left to put the Hawks ahead, 11-8.
- Roger Williams used a 12-1 run over the first 8:06 of the second quarter to open its lead up to 23-9. Gabby Amoddio ended the run with a layup with 1:54 left and Elise Ayer hit a free throw, cutting the lead to 23-12 with 50 seconds left. Chloe Richardson put the visitors ahead, 25-12, at the break.
- Using an 18-2 run in the third quarter, the Hawks pulled ahead by as many as 27 on a pair of occasions and increased their lead to as many as 31 with just under eight minutes to play.
- In addition to Coppola's 14 points, Dufrene chipped in with 12.
- Foster led the Leopards, who held the Hawks to 31.3 percent shooting from the floor, with 13 points to go along with eight rebounds.
SERIES NOTES:
- Today was the 67th all-time meeting between the two teams.
