Nichols Pulls Away from Women's Basketball
Bison use runs in the second and third quarters in the CNE victory; Taylor Garabedian scores a team-high 18 points

DUDLEY, Mass. – Abrianna Vazquez cored a game-high 21 points to pace three Nichols College women's basketball student-athletes in double figures as the Bison defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 93-51, in Conference of New England play Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nichols kept Wentworth off the board for the first 5:17 of the contest before a Tita Rana layup made it 12-2. After a three from Alyvia Smith put the Bison ahead, 15-2, Taylor Garabedian made a layup and Gabby Amoddio made two free throws, making it 15-6 with 3:05 left. Four straight points from Vazquez put the hosts ahead, 19-6, before Garabedian herself went on a 7-2 run and pulled the Black & Gold within eight (21-13) after one quarter of play. Garabedian had nine of her team's 13 points in the frame.
- One of two free throws from Angie Coletti gave Nichols a 24-15 lead with 7:34 left, however, a Garabedian jumper pulled the Leopards to within seven (24-17) and a Maddie Gaynor layup with 6:27 to play made it 24-19. Smith followed with a three, with started a 24-2 run and gave the Bison a 48-21 lead at the half.
- Nichols used a 14-4 run to open the third quarter and led, 62-25, with 4:56 left. With 2:20 left, Rana converted a four-point play, making it 62-29, however, the Bison led, 68-31, after three quarters of play.
- The Bison continued to add to their lead in the fourth quarter, despite only outscoring the Black & Gold by a 25-20 margin.
- In addition to Vazquez scoring 21, Summer Klein scored 14 and Smith added 11.
- Garabedian led Wentworth with 18 points, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Maddy Foster grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
SERIES NOTES:
- Tonight was the 45th all-time meeting between the two schools.
