Women's Lacrosse Torches Trinity (D.C.)
Leopards score 14 straight goals between first and second quarters, cruise to a 20-3 win; Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie accounts for five goals

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Fourteen straight goals spanning between the first and second quarters guided the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team (2-1) to a dominant 20-3 win over the Trinity (D.C.) Tigers in non-conference play Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Black & Gold opened the contest with two tallies in a span of 12 seconds early in the first quarter, before a Tigers' score marked a 2-1 score. From there, Wentworth rattled off seven straight, including three from Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie and another two from Sydney Vega, to mark a 9-1 game with 1:50 to go in the opening quarter.
- The Leopards drained seven straight goals in the second frame, featuring two from Aliviah MacCormack, to extend their lead to 16-1 with 57 ticks to go before the end of the quarter. Two Trinity tallies in the third quarter sandwiched four straight from the Leopards, including two from Grace Sweet, to mark a 20-3 score by the third quarter's end.
- Gunning-Lavoie led Wentworth with five goals and six points while Sweet followed with four tallies of her own. MacCormack and Vega each added three goals apiece in the onslaught. Lily Cohen made three saves in her first win of the season.
