Second Quarter Run Lifts UNE Past Women's Lacrosse
Nor'easters pull away from Leopards in a 15-4 win; Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie scores three times

BOSTON, Mass. – Barrie Guertin tallied four goals to help the University of New England women's lacrosse team defeat Wentworth Institute of Technology, 15-4, in Conference of New England action Tuesday night.
With the win the Nor'Easters improve to 4-6 overall and 2-1 in CNE play while the Leopards fall to 4-6 (0-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UNE jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Molly Henderson and Guertin before Tessa Wilkie converted a free position shot in a player-up situation to trim the lead to 2-1 with 7:15 left. A player-up goal from Sydney Balotin and a goal by Ella Cloutier put the Nor'Easters ahead, 4-1, after one quarter.
- The Nor'Easters broke the game open with six tallies in the second, with Cloutier scoring twice, and led 10-1 at the break.
- Gunning-Lavoie and Grace Del Pilar scored goals in the third quarter, sandwiched around a Balotin marker, making it 11-3 with 2:38 left in the third.
- UNE scored the final two goals of the third quarter and added two more in the fourth, while Gunning-Lavoie converted a free-position shot late to round out the scoring.
- Wilkie won three draws for the Black & Gold while Kaitlyn Kozak caused three turnovers. Hayden Saunders scooped up six ground balls and made eight saves between the pipes.

- Today was the 11th all-time meeting between the two teams.
