BOSTON, Mass. – A late goal by Jenny Montville tied the game and salvaged a draw for the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team (1-2-1), who knotted Mount Holyoke (2-0-1) by a 1-1 score on Sweeney Field Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Leopards got on the offensive side of things early, nicking two shots by 2:50 mark. Wentworth earned two corner kicks by the 6:06 mark and wound up outshooting the Lyons 10-3 across the first 45 minutes, resulting in four saves for Emma Zoubok.
- Mount Holyoke broke the scoreless tie at the 49:33 mark as a rebound of off the post found the foot of Hannah Keochakian, who found the open net below the crossbar to give the Lyons a 1-0 edge.
- Wentworth nearly knotted the score at the 74:32 mark as, off of a corner kick from Brianna Reid, Montville managed to get a header on goal. However, her attempt was stopped by a Lyons' defender, keeping the game at 1-0.
- Montville wouldn't be denied again at the 86:44 mark as an initial snag by Lily Carlson to Zoubok came loose, with Montville finding the rock and the back of the net to tie the game at one aside.
- Zoubok made five stops for the Lyons' as did Shyla Kulesza for the Leopards. Wentworth held a 16-12 advantage in shots.
