BOSTON, Mass. – Jordan Dahan scored on a penalty kick with 4:48 remaining in regulation to even the score at 1-all as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team rallied to tie Curry in the Conference of New England opener for both teams.
The Leopards stand at 3-2-3, while the Colonels are 3-2-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Curry had an early chance with a corner kick in the eighth minute of action. Off the set piece, Jovi Goldstein's shot hit the crossbar. Just under five minutes later, Dahan nearly put Wentworth on the board, however, her bid was saved by Hannah Correa.
- Shyla Kulesza made three saves for the Black & Gold in the opening half as Curry had an 8-2 shot advantage through the first 45 minutes of play.
- Nearly four minutes into the second half, Wentworth's Jenny Montville had a shot on net that was saved by Correa. In the 70th minute the Colonels hit the crossbar and, three and a half minutes later Curry nearly went ahead 1-0 as Sarah Crusse took a shot that was headed for the net but, at the last second, Rachel Hagerty cleared the ball away to keep the game scoreless.
- At 73:35, the Colonels broke the ice. A Wentworth misclear found Mia Schena, who tapped the ball into the right side of the net.
- Dahan's penalty kick came after a hand ball was called on Curry in the box. She stepped up to the spot and put home her first goal of the season and the second Wentworth goal scored on a penalty kick through eight games.
- Kulesza made a pair of saves late, including one on Goldstein with 51 seconds left right in front of the net. She finished with six saves while Correa made three stops. Curry had a 17-8 shot advantage and a 5-3 edge on corner kicks.
