Women's Soccer, Fitchburg State Play to 1-all Draw

FITCHBURG, Mass. – Brianna Reid scored in the 69th minute to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team (3-2-4) earn a 1-1 tie against Fitchburg State University (1-6-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After Fitchburg State put a shot on net that was saved by Claire Reif just 67 seconds into the contest, Wentworth fired off the next 13 shots, including four on net. In the 24th minute, Jordan Dahan put a shot on net that was saved by Madison Dawkins. Jenny Montville corralled the rebound and put her own shot on net, but Dawkins came up with the save on the second-chance attempt.
  • The Falcons took advantage of a second-chance attempt early in the second half as Noelle Kennedy took a shot that was blocked by a Leopard defender, grabbed the rebound and beat Reif to make it 1-0 in favor of Fitchburg State.
  • Wentworth continued to apply pressure, taking three shots, including one by Madelyn Seder that was saved by Cassandra Pendelton. At the 67:35 mark, Reid took the first of two corner kicks in a span of 11 seconds. On the second one, she served the ball towards the box and, after it was batted around, Rachel Hagerty gained possession, fed the ball to Reid, who fired a long shot that went inside the left post.
  • The Black & Gold nearly went ahead in the 84th minute. Montville took a shot that was blocked and Erin Londregan collected the rebound. Londregan put a shot on net but Pendleton came up with the save.
  • Reif made three saves on the evening. Wentworth had a 28-6 shot advantage and a 5-2 edge on corner kicks.
