BOSTON, Mass. –Eowyn Lapp of the Gordon Fighting Scots women's soccer team (7-3-4, 4-0-2 CNE) recorded two goals and added an assist as the Scots defeated the Wentworth Institute of Technology (4-7-4, 1-4-1 CNE) by a 5-1 score Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the game, the Black & Gold honored seniors Jenny Montville and Maria Selman.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Scots got on the board just 2:48 into the first half as a long stretch pass found the Ava Forbes-Smith, who broke away on a breakaway and potted the game's opening score.
- Wentworth knotted the score by the 37:52 mark as a battle sparked by Bryce Bateman to the right of the goal led to a loose ball to the foot of Lily Carlson, who managed to shoot the rock into the uprights to knot the score at one-all.
- Gordon took a 2-1 edge just over ten minutes into the second half as Lapp found open net inside the middle of box. The Fighting Scots added to their lead by the 72:18 mark as Madeline McNeilly also notched a tally from the left side of the box before Lapp pushed the lead to 4-1 just seven seconds later on a long shot from midfield.
- Kristi DiRico scored for the Fighting Scots at the 76:45 mark to cap Gordon's lead at 5-1. For the Leopards, Shyla Kulesza made five saves before Claire Reif added two in relief.
