WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – A natural hat-trick by Imani Jenkins of the Hartford Hawks women's soccer team paced the Hawks to a 7-0 victory over the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Conference of New England play Saturday afternoon.
Hartford now sits in first place in the league standings with their 11-3-2 overall record (6-1-1 CNE) while the Leopards fall to 4-9-4 (1-6-1 CNE).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks got on the board just 16 seconds into the afternoon as Christina Stone's early shot found the bottom right corner of the net. Just 5:14 later, another low shot off the foot of May Cervone found twine, raising Hartford's lead to 2-0.
- Jenkins pushed the Hawks' advantage to 5-0 by the 29th minute with three straight goals on her own in a 6:50 span. Kathleen Brush added another tally by the 30:32 mark to give Hartford a 6-0 advantage at the break.
- Brush scored once more just under nine minutes into the second half of play, marking a 7-0 score which would hold up as the final. In net for the Leopards, Shyla Kulesza made five stops before Claire Reif made four saves in relief.
NEXT UP:
- The Leopards wrap up regular season play at home versus Suffolk on Tuesday.
