NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and defeated visiting Wentworth, in a non-conference match at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Thursday afternoon.

Two of the doubles matches nearly went the limit. At number one, junior Amber Ubertini (Dalton, MA/Wahconah HS) and sophomore Kelsey Grossmann (Holliston, MA/Holliston HS) defeated sophomore Joanna Gustafson (Ashburnham, MA/Oakmont Regional HS) and junior Meredith Gratton (West Chazy, NY/Beekmantown HS), 9-7; while sophomore Courtney Morey (Mashpee, MA/Mashpee HS) and freshman Liz Girczyc (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro HS) downed freshman Natalya Cappellini (Falmouth, MA/Bishop Stang HS) and freshman Lane Ho (Vineyard Haven, MA/Martha's Vineyard Regional HS) at number three doubles, 8-6.

In singles, Ubertini defeated Brant, 6-1, 6-0 at number one, and Grossmann defeated Gustafson at number two, 6-0, 6-3, to clinch the match. At number three, junior Blair Dalrymple (North Attleboro, MA/North Attleboro HS) defeated senior Lydia Caserta (Hudson, MA/Hudson HS) in a super-tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-2, (10-3).

"We played well, winning all three of the doubles," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Ralph Perry. " Blair did a nice job coming back, and the same with Kelsey and Amber at first doubles, and Courtney and Liz at third doubles. They attacked the net well. Overall, I was pleased. Wentworth has a pretty good team, they were very competitive."

The Corsairs improved to 6-3 with the victory, while the Leopards dropped to 4-8 with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Bridgewater State Saturday. Wentworth will host Salve Regina Saturday.
