Colby-Sawyer Eliminates Wentworth From TCCC Tournament

NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 14, 2009- The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team advanced to the TCCC semifinals after a 9-0 victory over Wentworth, on Wednesday afternoon. The Chargers will face #5 Roger Williams on Wednesday, October 21 at Kelsey Courts.

 

Colby-Sawyer, which improved to 14-1 on the season, swept all three doubles matches in quick fashion. The No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Jen LaChance (Killingworth, Conn.) and junior Hannah White (Stockbridge, Mass.) breezed to an 8-0 victory over Angela Brandt (Northport, Maine) and Jeannine Stover (Clais, Maine). White also won her singles match without dropping a game 6-0, 6-0 at the third flight.

 

Senior Mary Francis (North Steuben, Maine) swept Brandt 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to lead the Chargers to the 9-0 victory. Francis and teammate Brittany Mailman (Freedom, N.H.) won their No. 2 doubles match 8-2 over Joanna Gustafson (Ashburnham, Mass.) and Meredith Gratton (West Chazy, N.Y.).
