WENHAM, Mass. – Senior Joanna Gustafson (Ashburnham, Mass.) won at number one doubles and number one singles and sophomore Deborah Massaro (Stony Point, N.Y.) and junior Jillian Flynn (Billerica, Mass.) won at number three singles and number six singles, respectively, while teaming to win at number three doubles as the Wentworth women's tennis team defeated Gordon, 5-4, in its Commonwealth Coast Conference opener.

The Leopards took two of the three doubles matches with Gustafson and Sophie Boyce (South Portland, Maine) taking an 8-5 decision in the number one position and Massaro and Flynn posting an 8-1 win at number three.

Gustafson gutted out a three-set (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) win at number one singles, while Massaro won at number three, 6-1, 6-1. Despite the Fighting Scots winning at number two, four, and five, Wentworth held on for the win, thanks to Flynn's 6-1, 6-4 win at number six.

Wentworth improves to 2-0 overall (1-0 CCC) and is at Emmanuel on Thursday. Gordon drops its season opener and is also in action on Thursday, hosting Bridgewater State
