RIVERSIDE, R.I. – In an abbreviated conference match, the Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team shut out Wentworth Institute of Technology 6-0 Thursday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference play.

With the inclement weather conditions in Bristol over the past few days, the match was moved from the Roger Williams University campus to Centre Court in Riverside. However, due to time constraints on the availability of the court, only the singles matches were played.

Lauren Schmidt (South Windsor, Conn.) and Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) both defeated their opponents without dropping a set. Schmidt took her number 3 match against Olivia Hegner (Medford, Mass.) 6-0, 6-0, while Dutton won by the same score against Virginia Ofer (Cooperstown, N.Y.) at number 4.

Olivia Hilton (Vernon, Conn.) notched her sixth straight singles win at number 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Val Maccarone (Cranston, R.I.), while Alexandra Reilly (Easton, Mass.) picked up her first singles win of the season, defeating Laura Boyd (Woodstock, Vt.) 6-2, 6-1 at number 6.

Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) and Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) earned the other two wins for the Hawks on the day. Klein held off Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) 6-1, 6-2 at number 1 singles, and Curran beat Deborah Massaro (Stony Point, N.Y.) 6-0, 6-2 at number 2.

Roger Williams will play its second match of back-to-back-to-back matches tomorrow at Nichols at 4:00 p.m., while Wentworth remains in the hunt for a CCC Tournament bid with a noon match at Curry in the team's regular season finale.
