Sollecito Earns First Team All-CCC Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team has earned a spot on the Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Conference Team. Sollecito was one of six players selected to the first team. Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the nine CCC head women's tennis coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.

Seven of the nine women's tennis playing schools had representatives on this year's list. Nichols' Amarie Settiwongse (Bangkok, Thailand) was selected as the CCC Player of the Year, Endicott's Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) was voted the league's best newcomer as Rookie of the Year, Christina D'Agostino (Bohemia, N.Y.) from Western New England was named this year's Senior Scholar-Athlete, Endicott's Jeremy Howard was tabbed as the CCC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, and Gordon was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship award.

Sollecito had an impressive rookie campaign for the Leopards as she posted a 9-4 record at No. 1 singles, which included a 5-3 mark in league play. In two of her conference victories, she dropped the first set before rallying to win in three sets. Her three-set (6-0, 6-7 (7-9), 6-0) win over Lesley's No. 1 singles player clinched the match for the Leopards in a 5-4 win.

In addition to playing number one singles, Sollecito posted five wins in doubles as she had three wins playing at No. 1 and two at No. 2.

Wentworth finished the season with a 3-10 record and narrowly missed qualifying for the CCC Tournament with a 2-6 record.
