Women's Tennis Wraps up Conference Slate

WENHAM, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team wrapped up its Commonwealth Coast Conference slate with a 9-0 loss at Gordon Saturday morning.

In doubles play, Justine Hanson and Gabrielle Brucker defeated sophomore Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and senior Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.), 8-1, at No. 1 doubles. Anna Mullane and Abigail Graves picked up an 8-0 win over sophomores CiCi Deakin (Standish, Maine) and Beverly LaChapelle (Caracas, Venezuela), 8-0. At No. 2 doubles, Anne Carsey and Kaelyn Hall picked up an 8-1 win over junior Olivia DeLuca (Dracut, Mass.) and sophomore Hannah Erickson (Columbia, Conn.), 8-1.

Mullane gave the Fighting Scots a 4-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win over LaChapelle at No. 4 singles before Madison West clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Deakin at No. 5. Caitlin Kwok defeated Butts, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2, Courtney Barlotta bested Erickson at No. 6, 6-0, 6-3, Hanson defeated Sollecito, 7-6 (9-7), 6-2, at No. 1, and Emily Ontiveros was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over DeLuca at No.3.

Wentworth (1-10, 0-7 CCC) will wrap up its fall segment with a home match against Thomas on Monday.
