Sollecito Named Second Team All-CCC

BOSTON, Mass. – For the second season in a row, Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team has been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference as the league announced its all-conference teams and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon.

Nichols' Amarie Settiwongse (Bangkok, Thailand) earned her third straight CCC Player of the Year honor. Two Endicott student-athletes also earned major awards with freshman Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) being named rookie of the year and Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) being recognized as the league's senior scholar-athlete. Nichols Associate Head Coach Eduardo Irizarry, who handled the head coaching duties for the Bison this fall, was named the CCC Coach of the Year and Wentworth earned the Team Sportsmanship award.

Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the eight CCC head women's tennis coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.

Sollecito, who was named First Team All-CCC as a freshman, picked up five victories in her sophomore campaign, with all of them coming while playing at the No. 1 position. Four of her five wins were in straight sets and the fifth was a three-set thriller at Endicott which gave the Leopards their first point against the Gulls since September 21, 2011. Sollecito also competed at No. 1 doubles.

In 26 career singles matches through two seasons, Sollecito has a 15-11 record. Her 15 victories tie her for ninth on the program's all-time win list.
