Women's Outdoor Track Has Weather-Shortened Debut
Three program records fall at the Sean Livingston Invitational despite weather cutting the meet short
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's outdoor track & field team had its debut meet on Saturday, competing at the Sean Livingston Invitational at Portsmouth, R.I. The event was cut short due to heavy rains which blanketed the area, however, the Leopards had X student-athletes compete before the event was halted.
Three records fell – all in field events. Sophomore Laci Santos (Medway, Mass.) set a program record in the shot put with her ninth-place finish of 8.79M while classmate Kaleigh West (Weymouth, Mass.) set a program record in the hammer throw, finishing 16th with a throw of 20.71M. Freshman Ashley Quintal was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 28.04M to put her name in the record books.
