Women's Volleyball Sees 2010 Campaign Come to a Close

WESTON, Mass. – The Wentworth women's volleyball team saw its 2010 season come to an end after dropping a pair of The Commonwealth Coast Conference matches to Regis and Colby-Sawyer in a TCCC tri-match played at Regis.

Needing to defeat the host Pride in order to secure the eighth and final TCCC Tournament berth, the Leopards went back and forth against Regis, but would fall by a 25-22 score.  In the second set Wentworth fell behind early but would stage a comeback late, cutting the Pride's lead to as few as five points, before the hosts took a 25-18 win.  Regis completed the sweep with a 25-14 win in the third set, eliminating Wentworth from post-season contention.

Freshman Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) had a team-high eight kills to go along with 10 digs, while senior Sam Vinciguerra (Somersworth, N.H.) added five kills of her own.  Junior Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) and sophomore Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) each had four kills and tallied 10 and nine digs, respectively.  Sophomore Rebecca Williams (Brockton, Mass.) had 22 assists.

The Leopards closed out the season with a 3-0 loss to Colby-Sawyer as the Chargers took the first set by a 25-13 score and never looked back, completing the sweep with a 25-12 win in the second set and a 25-15 win in the third set.  Bruton and Rahilly each had four kills, while Hobbs added eight digs.

Under the direction on first-year head coach Jenn Kelemen, the Leopards finished the season with an 8-21 overall record and a 2-8 mark in TCCC play.
