Women's Volleyball Breezes by Elms
Leopards sweep Blazers behind efficient .439 clip; Abby Maher leads with nine kills

BOSTON, Mass. – Kate McLane (.667), Riley Schoonmaker (.667), and Abby Maher (.643) each notched efficient clips as the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team (4-0) breezed by the Elms Blazers (0-4) in straight sets Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Wentworth rattled off the first nine points of the set, with five coming on kills from McLane. After Elms scored two, the Leopards scored five straight and then another eight straight after a Blazers point, marking 24-4 score. A finish by Schoonmaker clinched a 25-4 set win.
- After Elms opened the second frame on a 3-0 run, Wentworth scored eight of the next nine points, including two service aces from Emma Sanders, to take an 8-4 lead. Three kills by Maher pushed the lead to 13-7 before the Leopards scored 12 of the next 14 points, including kills from Schoonmaker and Helen Barthe, to take a 25-9 set.
- The two teams swapped scores to start the third set before two service aces from McLane helped Wentworth set out to a 9-4 advantage. Two kills from Kayla DeCastro helped the lead to 14-7 before a slew of errors gave the Black & Gold a 25-10.
SERIES NOTES:
- Wentworth is a perfect 3-0 all-time versus Elms, dropping one set through three matches.

- The Black & Gold travel to Rivier on Saturday for a tri-match featuring the Raiders and Vermont State Castleton.
