Women's Volleyball Sinks Salem State
Leopards sweep Vikings, 3-0, as Becca Lowder notches career-high 14 digs

BOSTON, Mass. – A balanced attack across the board, along with a career-high 14 digs by Becca Lowder, guided the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team (10-5) to a dominate 3-0 sweep over the Salem State Vikings (2-11) in Tansey Gym on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kills by Helen Barthe, Riley Schoonmaker, and Ema Thompson pushed the Black & Gold to a 7-1 advantage in the first set before two finishes by Thompson later on marked a 9-6 lead. Kills by Barthe and Savannah Morford helped extend the lead to 16-10 before a finish by Abby Maher marked a 20-13 advantage. Wentworth scored five of the next six points to take a 25-14 set.
- With finishes from Maher and Morford the Leopards clinged out to a 6-1 lead in the second frame before kills by Barthe, Schoonmaker, and Maher marked a 12-6 advantage. A string of finishes, including two from Barthe, pushed the lead to 17-7 just before three straight aces by Kinsey Lutz later on helped the lead gain to 24-10. A finish by Morford clinched another 25-14 set win.
- The Vikings swung out to a 6-0 lead in the third set before the Leopards fought back to a 7-6 deficit on a kill by Lexi Zabloudil. A stretch of two aces by Kayla DeCastro and two finishes by Lutz helped the Leopards set out to a 15-10 lead before a kil by Morford marked an 18-10 score. Two kills from Morford and another from Zabloudil pushed Wentworth's pace to a 25-15 set win.

- Winners of six straight, the Leopards own the all-time series, 6-1.
